OSS Experience

The trip to the OSS garden was very educational and I liked that we learned about a sense of community and how gardening and plants can affect a space. The green itself is very creative with the idea of having the 2 hands joining. I like the way this project brings communities together and invites people to have a conversation. In modern day, we occupy a lot of our time with stress and especially living in the city. Taking time out of our day to garden is very calming. I like the educational aspect of this project and how they have popped up in several parts of the city and promote people to get out and engage with their landscape. Just a few minutes of the day to talk to one another is helpful in understanding other cultures. Oftentimes, we don’t know our neighbors and don’t understand them if they’re not from the same place as us, but having an activity that promotes a conversation and a way to get to know one another is part of being a community. This design is more of a systems than it is of a physical design itself. It design a way people carry out their day and can turn someones day around. Just when we were there, we heard a woman ask when the next gardening activity was going to be. The garden itself has changed the space and made it into something communal and fun for the area. It brings a wholesome activity and a spark of joy into the space.
