Int Sem Interview

Alyssa Cronin, a successful blogger and world traveller, finally settles down for day to discuss her way of life. From fears to dreams, Cronin opens up about how she is able to live her dream every day.

Interviewer:

What is your current job position?

Cronin:

I’m working for myself, current entrepreneur blogger, travelling the world and telling other people’s stories and showing the world how progressive it has gotten.

Interviewer:

Do you have a place you call home?

Cronin:

No, I would consider myself a nomad. The world is too big to go back to the same place twice. All these communities and cultures that are smaller and more obscure should be told.

Interviewer:

How did you start?

Cronin:

I decided to travel out of college. It began as an excursion to go see Italy with a group of people and ended up staying and journeyed places where people don’t usually go. I saw all these new people that I wanted to tell their story so I started my blog.

I started with no money but ended finding a job through this by selling photos and growing my business from there. Got published in a couple of magazines and that was when my voice was heard and I became sponsored by photography branded and exploration.

Interviewer:

Do you do this to see the world or people?

Cronin:

Definitely seeing the people, the word is an added bonus. I want to depict the way humans live. I’m inspired by people like Art Wolfe, who takes pictures of cultures that are dying away. The new generation is not keeping up their tradition. They deserved to be seen and cherished by the world and understood, there is so many harmonies in those communities that we don’t have in this world. If the world can see that maybe we can be a better place.

Interviewer:

Would you say you have a close-knit community?

Cronin:

I’m very good at being mostly alone, I prefer independence, I do have a partner that would be into the same things I am. I have a husband who is a videographer, he documents the cultures we visit and terms them into a documentary. I write and he records and we work as a team.

Interviewer:

Where is the place you would go back to where you aren’t travelling

Cronin:

I have a fear where I would lose my home base, it would go against my goal of not seeing the same place twice. I would make a 10-year goal where I would only go back to places I’ve visited after 10 years to see how it has changed. But my home base would be Utah.

Interviewer:

What is your biggest failure?

Cronin:

There was a long time where I felt that I wouldn’t get anywhere, I would never make it. I felt like I was only reading my own writing and no one else was reading it and appreciating it. But eventually, it picked up over time. It started off as a big long state of depression where I felt like I was getting nowhere.

Interviewer:

When did you know you made it?

Cronin:

I don’t think I’ll ever feel like I’ve made it. There is always ore you can do, there is always more you can see. I will always know I won’t be able to see everything, and that kind of break my heart. I just want to see everything I can possibly can.

Interviewer:

Ok, so now tell me a little about your blog.

Cronin:

It’s a little bit of everything. It’s going to be called “whenever and wherever”. My Instagram is whenever.wearever. It’s currently a cultural blog, showing people, places, things, food and everything in between.
