The ‘Personal Narrative’ was the final project for Drawing/Imaging. I did not have a final idea for this project, and simply experimenting without any idea was difficult, but it turned out to be quite fun.
I was inspired by the fabrics and clothing styles of India and America. After experimenting with fabrics, textiles and clothes lying in my closet here at New York, I wanted to portray the two different cultures that integrate in my life right now- Indian culture and the American culture. I used the style of a quilt to attach and integrate the scans and cultures of the two nations.
But, I felt that I wasn’t able to experiment in a more tactile form and so I came up with another idea- of a box. I wanted to show how my life, in a box, currently consists of several layers of India and America.
