The waste output produced in a week is a substantial amount in every household. Tracking this output for a week was an interesting assignment for me. I created the visual piece digitally. It was quite beneficial for me as well because I realised just how much I consume in a single day, and how much waste is thrown away in a single day.
One of the difficulties I faced with the written assignment, was submitting a final solution for the redesign of a waste item. I suggested the use of aluminium packaging for biscuits rather than plastics for better reuse and recycling. But, after receiving feedback from my professor and peers, I realised that my redesign must be feasible in every manner including financially. I would want to research more on the feasibility of aluminium and search for more options for my redesign. I’d also like to draw my design for the packaging to convey my idea more clearly.
Overall, this assignment brought a very serious issue to my attention. And it has made me more mindful about my consumption, and has made me take care of throwing/recycling waste in the correct manner.
