Week 8

Architecture is the exterior after the completion of space, but space should not be rudely isolated in its interior by architecture, which should be intimate with nature and human beings. Perhaps today’s people have come to realize the spiritual isolation that has existed for a long time. The large Windows, semi-open and even completely open “private space” are open to absorb everything of nature by mountains, water, wind, light, ground, and air. I believe that nature’s building, it’s in the piece of vibrant slopes between no unpleasant chemical material. However, in the modern period, it’s hard to create a relationship between people and the environment. Nature is tranquil, and the sound it makes is silent to the ear of the hearer, whether it be the river, the tree, the field, or the building itself. No one can feel the beauty of silence without listening. “Nature” has been showing its power in the process of building completion. From the greatest architect of the last century, Frank Wright. He designs Fallingwater which symbols one of architecture that was close to nature. In addition, the most important is no matter what the environment was designed. People can have a great experience together with their families. Therefore, the interior space is the real utility of the architecture. The external form of a building should be based on its interior function to determine its shape. It also relates to human factors. Indoor is where people live, study and work. If people are not comfortable in its space, its functions are awkward and unnatural, then no matter how beautiful the building looks, it is just a “dead building”, losing the vitality of nature. This is the reason why “functionalism” has gradually become the mainstream of architecture.
