Bridge 2: Artist Statement_July 25

For the pieces of Bridge II, I redesigned a flyer that I found on East Williamsburg of the Personal Training service by Ian Allen. I was driven to support Allen’s service because I thought it could empower the individuals that he trained. However, I felt the flyer could more strategically call the attention of its audience by creating a visual and a tagline that will make the viewer reflect and be interested in the personal training. The overarching themes of the re-creations are motivation and memory. I wanted to transmit to the audience that they could enhance their lifestyle by becoming more healthy individuals with Ian Allen. To achieve this, I created three minimalistic and direct pieces that focused on bringing back the attention to Allen’s service. Two of the pieces center in the power of memory, and how the connections that the audience could make with the tagline and image could motivate them to sign up for Allen’s classes.

I am an international student from Venezuela that desires to communicate with the world around me visually. I hope that I can become a part of the global conversation where I can tell stories that are untold. With a background in business and languages, I have experienced how different fields will always connect at some points, and I aspire to reinforce that connection in my work. I believe that there is not one pure aesthetic, and therefore I have chosen to collaborate and learn from those around me to every day grow as an artist.
