Reflection:
It is interesting to connect the design world with biology and physics. In the end, all these elements compose the mass of the earth. I find McDonough’s quote quite intriguing:
“Design is the signal of intention”.
The world itself is carefully designed, and no material is wasteful or corrupt. It is only placed in the wrong place.
“A toxin is a material in the wrong place.”
As future sustainable designers, we need a foreseeing eye to design the present for the future. Through deepened thinking and understanding of the earth, it is possible to craft a world with generosity and fairness.
It inspired me to think carefully about my final design project of using materials that can go back to the ground with no harm. It is essential to think first and then do it.
