Neighbook: Share knowledge with love

A neighborhood book sharing app—Share knowledge with love

I designed Neighbook, a useful APP that encourages our neighborhood to borrow and lend books to each other. Our mission is to share resources and eliminate unnecessary purchase as a community.

Sustainability Problems of Books:

Book: Producing a book from recycled paper uses about 2/3 of a pound of minerals and two gallons of water.  Combined, U.S. book and newspaper production requires the harvesting of more than 100 million trees, generates tremendous amounts of wastewater, and creates a sizable carbon footprint. A tremendous amounts of energy is also wasted in transportation and disposal.

How to eliminate the literary carbon footprint?

Neighbook is the answer!

We believe, living in a fast consumerism society, it is crucial to share resources and knowledge with each other locally in a smaller scale. Considering the current pandemic, our book sharing system provide no contact exchange. Each Neighbook user receives a Share Knowledge With Love exchange box.  Books can be borrowed on the Neighbook App from the owner. The lender will place the book in the box and leave it at the door for the borrower to pick up.

We believe books are only put in use when they are read. Many people possess a tons of book. However, they were only read once and were placed on the shelf for display. A neighborhood might need this book and order it from amazon. The cost of packaging, delivering and human labor is very useful. If a neighborhood can use the Neighbook App efficiently, everyone can benefit from this non-profit design. Neighbook is also the best tool to connect the neighborhood with a meaningful approach.

This is the Share Knowledge with love Exchange Box. It allows our users to borrow and lend books with no contact.

The Neighbook App interface allows users to navigate easily. They can search for a book they want to borrow, upload a book for lending, discover available books nearby and request a special book from neighbors.
