Overall impression:
It is such an amazing documentary. It really pushes me to think of the responsibility and characteristics of a designer. Designers are very considerate perfectionists.
Surprising things:
- Every object tells a story if you know how to read it
- Most of the things that are designed go to the landfills and the recycling process is very complicated
- Designers don’t care about the average. They design for the more extreme populations.
Thing stood up for you?
- Design is a search of form.
- The democratization in design is creating more unnecessary garbage in the market.
- Designers understand what people needs perhaps even better than they do.
- We tend to want new things, so it doesn’t last
- Designers spend most of their time designing for the 10% of the world that has owned too much when 90% don’t have even basic products and services just lead a subsistent life.
Good designs:
- Dieter rams: Good designs are clear and understandable
- Good design are Innovative, make a product useful, aesthetic , honest , obtrusive, long-lived , consistent in every detail, environment friendly, as little design as possible
- A central goal in design is to create an appropriate environment where people feel good.
- Good designs are non-disposable, can stand the test of time
- Hella Jongerius:
Good design moves you in that moment and evokes an emotion - Design resolving in behavior
- Good design gets better with use
