One of the biggest parts of my life has been the journey my family and community has been through with my mother and her battle with brain cancer, so when I thought about memory, I immediately went to some of my most powerful memories from the struggle. This video reflects the transition I went through from happy and healthy childhood to learning about my mother’s illness, to seeing her health decline firsthand as I grew up, and finally watching her flicker out of existence. The sound of the final shutting of the car door at the end represents the last moment I had with my mom-hugging her goodbye, and rushing away, unaware that shutting the door that night meant I would never be able to open it again.
