Object story: Where did you get the object? What was its story prior to your acquisition.  What are your intentions for the new life/value of the material through your reinvestment?

This shoe was sitting in my closet at home among the other worn pairs of the exact same shoe. Adidas Super Stars are by far the most comfortable sneaker to date which is which I have grown to own many pairs.  My intention through this process was to able to find away to make the sho functional in an unexpected way.

Embodied Learning: What were the most important personal lessons you gained by experience?

I learned that sewing with wire can be very challenging and that it takes alot of patience and time in effort to do it properly. It was something that I had saw as easy before I started doing it and I realized how challenging working with the material can be. I also learned how many different parts there are to a shoe, and I was able to see the internal materials that hold the perfect shoe together.

Text Reflection: What ideas in your selected text are most relevant to your experience and why? Include direct quotes from your book.

My project had a strong connection to  The Hand: How Its Use Shapes the Brain, Language, and Human Culture by Frank Wilson because I had really use my hands to rip parts of the shoe off to able to allow it to come apart. I used exacto knifes and scissors and a box cutter to attempt to cut the shoe apart. This took a vast amount of energy from my hands. As the book, is fixated on the language of the hand, I thought this was rather fitting in that my hands had a strong presence throughout the exploration.
