Final Project 3 (first stage)
For my final 3rd project I decided to do something different that I have never done before. Instead of imitating a usual container (bag or backpack) I will make the clutch of my own design, in the form of the paper airplane. For the container itself I will use thick fabrics and will add wire in some places, so it could always stay in shape of an airplane. As for the shirt itself, I will use dark denim. I will also sew some zippers, so the shirt could be perfectly hidden inside the airplane clutch. The sleeves will not be that big, and they will have the form of wings, so I could show the theme of my two objects – theme of flight. I will use sewing machines and I will also hand sew some parts, especially when I will be putting my container and my wearable thing together.
I was inspired by two fashion designers – Charlotte Olympia, who has a tendency to make her shoes and clutches in diverse type of form:
And another designer is Kenzo Takada, his way of thinking has always fascinated me, especially the way he uses some elemts of pop art in his designs. One of my favorite Kenzo collections is Sky collection, this is where I got the idea of airplane and flight theme:
