Animism comes from Japanese Shinto religion. It is a belief that natural objects, phenomena, and the universe itself have desires and intentions. Every thing has its spirit. In Japanese animation Spirited Away, Miyazaki Hayao creates a lot of cute monsters to represent varies spirits in the nature.
