Rex Tillerson

Former CEO of Exxon

Used to be in refining and chemical division ($7.8B net income)

Favored carbon tax to avoid cap and trade legislation (carbon pricing)

Big oil companies actually do believe in climate change/global warming but will not admit to it because they profit from it.

Exxon has a 3.2B partnership with Russia’s Rosneft — there is said to be a quarter of the planet’s petroleum under the arctic and the melting sea ice makes it more accessible to drill into.

So shell, a different giant oil company, had access to areas north of Alaska but pulled out because of legal setbacks, publicly claimed decarbonizing is inevitable for the sake of the planet.
