I chose the initial image from the #is2b2 collection, because I found the posters to have a very captivating design and color scheme. I also find concert posters in general very interesting. For my three redesigns I wanted to design the first very similar to the themes of the original design, the second veering off a bit from the themes of the original design, and the third much more abstract and wildly different from the original design. When thinking of my target audience, I needed to create posters that would be artistically tasteful to appeal to a post-punk/indie rock fanbase. I tried to factor this information into my work from Bridge 2. I am most proud of the compositions I created, and the relationships between text, imagery, and background in those compositions. I can’t really speak on showing my work and experiencing DAI in person, as I was sick and unfortunately missed critiques last week. If I were to do another iteration of this project, I would experiment with more variations of composition with the three portrait photos I used in the first redesign. For additional context and understanding, I would share with viewers the band’s history of album art and advertising to show the red, white, and black color scheme motif that is present throughout their career’s body of work.
