Year 3

Hospice Project Phase 2

Phase 2 of this project was challenging and fun. I was surprised by how passionate I became about this project. I focused on the beauty of life and the preservation of what once was to create a memory. Through my research I was taken with the idea of fossils and plants that took on a new life. Ammonite is a specific fossil that I have increasingly been drawn to . Though wanting to incorporate living plants in this project, I wanted to emphasis the remnants of plants and flowers  that take on a new life in a different form. I started creating forms using my hands to leave impressions on plaster. These forms helped me to find interesting forms for my actual seating for contemplative practices within the site.

I wanted to create a living space for the patients, visitors and staff  that evoked a sense of nature where one can feel at ease and be able to retreat and partake in contemplative practice. I also want to incorporate textures and natural material throughout the space. During the critique my feedback consisted of looking further into pushing my physical creations and applying it to the overall layout of the plan and concept. I am looking forward to furthering my research in sculpting and creating more impressions indicating remnants and digitizing them to create a more wholistic project. I plan on doing extensive research in forms of not only organic but technology and how they are made as suggested during the critique.I also want to explore the creation of objects/ spaces that have more than one purpose to create a more versatile space and easier to customize. One aspect I also over looked that I think would be beneficial to took into is patient to patient relationships and interactions.
