I learned a lot in the last semester. For example, during space and materiality course, I learned how to build a 3D model quickly. I used some relatively hard paper board, then cut them with a knife and finally splice them into a three-dimensional polyhedron. I think this project not only train my hands-on ability but also to train my 3D thinking ability. If the future course needs to use 3D models, I think I could apply the technique that I learned in the past properly. In fact, in this course, I also learned how to use some of the school’s machines of the woodshop safely so that I can complete some tasks more efficiently.
For the Time course, I took last semester. I learned how to make and edit videos. I think this ability is crucial. This is because the video making allows me to express some of my ideas by the video media the teacher also taught us how to use some of the software like Indesign for layout and printing. Learning how to use software is very useful for future designing and learning.
In the avatar studio class last semester, the teacher took us to Central Park for a field trip. He let us feel the local culture and environment, which allowed me to understand some of the culture and lifestyle of local people better. The field trip helped me adapt to the new environment, and I think the ability to adapt to a new environment is also essential.
Right now, I am in a new position with a new course, which is constructive environment. I am very energetic now since this course is related to the sphere that I am interested in. Besides, I am also in the position of the unknown. That is because people are always changing. My personality also is changing, and I would like to learn and understand myself, so let’s keep discovering.
For the new semester, I could make the full use of the knowledge that I learned in the last semester to create more exciting designs. Besides, I also hope that some of the works in the new semester could integrate with my current major, which is product design, in a better way.
For me, I would like to research more and utilize the information from reading better to the work that relates to my major and show my idea clearly.
