Xcel Zoom! The In Phone Game!

I am creating a fake phone product called the Xcel ZOOM

I am going to create advertising media around this product for a while. It will be the only phone you have the ability- as an add on feature-to drive. It is built like a car but acts mostly like a phone. I chose to make this product the main character of my Game assignment as well as my CG class assignment.

In the game Xcel Zoom, which is included in the purchase of the phone, you play as the titular phone and play through levels breaking through obstacles to get to the end goals.

Level 1 is the easiest of the levels. I try to tell the player that in order to survive in the game, you have to stay afloat by pressing the space button, or whatever button allows for jumping on your controller. You are met with an impassible wall if you start off going left and two breakable walls when headed right. At the end is the goal cube that brings you to the next level.

Level 2 is a practice level testing how you control your input jumps while going up and down the steeped hallways the rooms now pose to you, ending with the goal cube.

Level 3 is another practice level that flips the order of steeped rooms you faced in level 2.

That’s where I got it to about time of the presentation.

What I wanted to do,

Lv 1 teaches movement, how up/down is forward back in the world, but also make left/right do the same (people kept pressing left/right anyways).

Lv 2, I’d introduce the breakable walls and maybe place a new button that activates a speed burst that allows the breaking of the wall.

Lv 3, steep the hallways and add some more walls.

Lv 4, Make an unbreakable moving wall that you have to wait for it to move into the 3rd axis before proceding.

Lv 5, have the steep hallways have unbreakable moving walls.

Lv 6, scrap it all, plain level but the goal cube moves on the 3rd axis, so you have to time the collision with it.

Lv 7, introduce the breakable walls again with the moving goal cube

Lv … do the same with some extras added on, I’m exited just writing this, I’m gonna go finish this.

Feedback:

“Make a UI element that shows that you’re getting hurt by touching the top and bottom boarders.” I got a suggestion of making the trail render have a visible change to show you’re dying or losing energy.

“Have more levels.” I will.

“The effects looked polished and professional.”

“It’s a fun spin on the helicopter game.”

“Feels really satisfying to just break the walls”

“The [goal cube] needs to stand out more if it’s the only one that matters to be broken.” I’ll work on effects for the goal cube.
