The purpose of this assignment is to make a public service image. First, I drew my draft idea of “No Hand In The Gap” (In the elevator) and then I cut it out of black paper. Afterwards, I put the cut-out design into Photoshop and Illustrator and worked digitally.
The goal of my service image is to keep people from putting their hands in the gap. I decided to apply humor into the design since people can get tired of regular warning signs. A sense of humor may impresses people more, by being dynamic and getting their attention. I used an image of an alligator head, and put it into the design. The consequence of putting a hand in the elevator gap is as serious as putting a hand in the mouth of an alligator!
