Blinded in Washington Square Park

For our project, our initial idea was to make some visual piece that complemented our audio piece and I think it went as planned. I wanted to make this mobile because I was inspired by all the babies at Washington Square Park. At first I wanted to make the images blurred out and a rectangular shape but instead I just edited the photos to be in black and white and then I cut them into triangle shapes instead. We decided on the idea to include circles in different colors that we saw when our eyes were closed. I personally saw a lot of browns and yellows so I painted circles in those shades. Then I used thread to glue the pieces onto and then attached the thread to the wire base. Ideally the piece would have been hung from the ceiling but since it wasn’t possible to in the room, I had to make a cardboard contraption that is pinned onto the wall and then the mobile is placed on the card board piece.  And because I wasn’t able to reach high enough the individual experiencing the pice would have to sit down and they weren’t able to look at the back side of the mobile instead of standing up and being able to turn. . Another issue with that though is that people are different heights so if we were to make this again. the circumference of the mobile would have been larger to allow for more space.  Other than that, I think the piece went from my head to my hands rather smoothly. And because the sound piece could be heard differently through each ear, the piece works together to allow the individual to sense their surroundings.
