This is the waste treatment plant in Newtown Creek.
This photograph shows an auto scrapyard, highlighting how quickly we use our resources and then define them as waste when we could probably upgrade them.
Interestingly, one of the teachers on the boat pointed out that this apartment building has solar panels integrated into the upper floors. I believe they said that this many solar panels would be enough to power the building.
This tower provides ventilation for the Holland tunnel. Amazing how such a large aboveground structure is necessary to maintain a tunnel which we generally take for granted.
