- I chose Pierre Cardin because I’m always surprised by how much I like his work when I see it.
- He has worked as an apprentice to a designer, and a tailor. He has studied architecture, and worked at Paquin, Schiaparelli, and Dior. Unlike many of the other designers I’ve profiled, Cardin didn’t receive a degree for his studies.
- Some of my favorite works by him include a chair:

4.He seems to be consistently inspired by geometric forms, particularly circles and spheres. This consistency creates a strong sense of lifestyle from his designs, as it almost seems as though his models are all members of the same futuristic tribe. Humorously, this interest in spheres is very much a part of his personal life, as Cardin is the owner of the famous Palais Bulles
5. From researching him I specifically hoped to document my admiration for a designer whose aesthetic is dissimilar from my own. I feel like many people associate Cardin with his merchandising/licensing empire, which is certainly a huge part of his business, but they often forget that he’s an extremely talented designer to boot.
