Critique Response

I received three critiques on my project before coming up with the final version.

The first critique I received was in Integrated Seminar. Elizabeth pointed out that the story very much satisfied the project requirements, but it seemed as if it was trying to do just that. In short, it seemed as if the project was made without accounting for my own opinions. I agreed with this sentiment, but I questioned whether it would be acceptable/true to the assignment for me to begin injecting my own commentary, and possibly even portraits, as was suggested. I decided not to do this because I felt that including self-portraits would be too close to comparing myself with Ann.

The second critique, in Studio, was built off the class-wide critique from the prior day. My partner and I decided that I could probably talk about my own opinions on The Beauty Myth by way of showing selected candids from my week with Ann. I thought I could combine the captions and the candid images to present my own opinions without being too present in the final work.

Lastly, my brief critique/discussion with Ruth brought the project to its final stage, where I focus on the time/financial value that is lost on a daily basis by people trying to confine to a beauty myth. Hopefully, this project causes the viewer to question why we have beauty myths, rather than questioning why the current standard of beauty is what it is.
