Exaggeration Poster
Having to make a poster about exaggeration made me automatically think about America and consumerism. The main idea I had was to show my brother and I moving back to the United States from Brazil and being shocked by large quantities of advertisement and how people seemed obsessed with consuming. The two children in the center were made to represent my brother and I, innocent children being seduced by the hands which were offering us gifts meant to represent brand and advertising trying to reel people into their stores. The other element of the piece was the word “save” being covered by brands names and phrases like “2 for 1 sale” which are stimuli for consumers to spend their money rather than save it the background represents the same thing with the black and white dollars representing all the money you spent unnecessarily.

Good theme for poster and generally your concerns are communicated well.
More additions of hands compositionally, against background would shift the focus away from the dominance of the dollars in the background, even if it is the “economy stupid” (Bill Clinton) intent visually.
The look of dada and surrealist construction of images are engaging, but I want more!
