Koi Fish Pond
For this assignment the students were tasked with creating a work of art based on their partner’s memory. My Partner was Rita. During our interview session, she had mentioned that she had many koi fish at her house back in Vietnam. Rita cares dearly about her koi fish and even referred to them as her babies and spoke extensively about how she trained them. I found that to be very unique so that is what I decided to depict in my artwork. I used adobe illustrator to illustrate the bigger fish (pink, black, white), once I had completed that I felt like the there was too much empty space in the composition so I copied and adjusted the size and color of the fish since there are many different types of koi fish. I wanted the background to be abstract also but take the viewer’s eye away from the main subject the koi fish.
