Construction Of The Wearable

Updating The Design

After selecting and having my meeting with my professor, I decided to update my design a little bit. The design I had in my mind was an all-black vest covered with blood vessels all around it. Then when I met with my professor, he gave me a great idea to create a net-shaped form in order to mimic a vest. At first look, it seems like a do-able idea, but then I figured that the bristol paper is not that strong to creat that shaped. All of the vessels got bent when I tried to wear it, it disgusted me so much… Then I decided to combine these two ideas. It still has a strong base, but only on the left side. I painted it to back it out which helped met to put the focus on the vessels and the heart visuals. This base also helped me to build a smooth area where I attached more vessels to add extended ones. Finally, I managed to make something both make up to mine and my professors’ expectations. I hope.

The Base

I managed to build this base by having a more geometrical look at it. I made a template consists of 12 squares and one big rectangle which creates a shape that enables this form to become a wearable thing. After creating these shoulder pads, I focused on the shield kind of part that it has in order to create a smooth surface for the attachable. I stuck a big perpendicular page of a bristol paper at the left-hand side of it.

The Blood Veins

For the veins, first of all, I measured the exact size of the shield. Then I sketched a bunch of veins in that additional page, added shadow on to them, then cut them out. For the additional veins that are going out of the vest, I used the same technique but I attached them under the vest in order to create this visual illusion that veins are all connected.

The Heart Illustration

I sketched a biological form of a heart, added shadows to it in order to obtain this realistic look to it, finally cut ith out, and placed it on the left of the mask.
