Slow Change

For the Slow Change Video, I thought of a worldwide theme of nostalgia; love. The B&W images represent loss of love. Nostalgia here was shown in the form of reminiscing on times when one used to be with their significant other. The images i used in the first half of the video depict emptiness through photos of lonely settings and flashes of “what used to be love.” Later the video simply moves to photographs of certain surfaces, textures or symmetrical objects with a mood of being trapped or having lost freedom. When people loose love they tend to isolate themselves from the world. The last picture is one of a rose. This image is the only one that represents a more positive aspect of loving or being loved, yet still in a very fragile and enclosing way. I chose the voice narration of EE Cummings “Somewhere I Have Traveled Gladly Beyond” to be over the image of a rose because i believe it emphasizes the message of the poem, and me trying to contrast the positive and negative aspects of closing oneself from love.
