Artist Statement

 

I am independent, creative artist not afraid of experimentation. I have a passion for learning and always seek success but am not afraid of failure. As an artist I have always been inspired by my southern roots and my experience growing up in the south. My designs always pay tribute to southern culture as I can not escape who I am and where I come from. Weather the designs are inspired by the nascar or old country music, my collections are recognizable with fine detail, hand craftsmanship, and a hint of bling.

As a designer and an artist I feel that it’s important to be true to your self when to comes to design. I am always seeking and discovering new innovative ways to express and show southern fashion in a modern way. When my work is speculated I hope it brings forth beauty, inspiration and a new insight to southern fashion that may have not been seen before. I am truly inspired by old country music singers such as Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley to name a few. There amazing archive of clothes designed by Nudie and Manuel fill me with inspiration and innovation on how old country rockabilly style can be brought back into fashion. This is truly seen through out my most recent menswear collections that represents me most as a southern designer.

My designs are recognisable with the fine detail and craftsmanship that is illustrated throughout my collection. Certain techniques are used such as hand embroidery, custom crafted fabrics, and the hand placement of crystals throughout the garments. It’s theses specifics time consuming techniques that are important to my work because its a signature aspect to me as a artist. Trying to combine old rockabilly style to modern day fashion one can see the hybridity in my work and the fine detail that both the rockabilly style and my contemporary work share.

I am a proud southern designer inspired by southern culture seeking ways to be innovated in representing a new kind of fashion brought to the public. Not being afraid of experimentation and failure I pay attention to fine details and hand craftsmanship to bring forth beauty, inspiration and a new insight to southern fashion to my viewers. I hope my work makes my viewers see a new style of rockabilly made modern inspired by famous country icons.
