This project was based on the influence and inspiration of dreams and taking inspiration from other artists who have used dreams in their artwork. I used poetry and quotes based on dreams, and painted them onto the shirt. I sewed a shirt and skirt I had together to create a full dress. On the front of the skirt, there is a painting I did that was abstracted from a painting I had done research on for our seminar paper, and I thought the dream-like quality of angels and the connection between two people is what the poetry I read was about. I chose white and a charcoal grey color because I thought that it reflected the cloudiness or lightness of dreams, and how sometimes it can have deeper meanings than what we first imagine. What you dream about symbolizes a deeper truth. At first, I wanted to create something really different and print on fabric, but the circumstances of being in quarantine have made it really difficult to create due to lack of resources and my having trouble thinking creatively at home. Overall, I wish I could’ve elevated it more, but I am happy with the result.
