Wearable Sculpture

This minimal and wearable sculpture displays the idea of control. In real life, every action is due to control (It can be as simple as what you choose to eat for lunch). This is the same case for virtual reality because you choose your own actions in a game. After looking at various versions of the concept ‘control’, I chose to talk about our hands. This is because no other creature in the world has hands that can grasp, hold, move, and manipulate objects like human hands. We create, survive, and express through the movement of our hands. In VR, once we ‘jump’ into a virtual world, our impulses are to see whether or not we exist in that world, we raise our hands and slowly move our fingers to validate that. We also have an impulse to find out if we can interact with the virtual world and to do that, we use our hands to touch objects and see if we can feel it. In an attempt to stress the importance of our hands, the wearable sculpture is a set of rings to block the joints of a human hand. Can you function normally with these rings on? Would we have been able to create all the things in the world today? A short art film is also presented with the wearable sculpture.
