A location based group project that required us to design an avant-garde garment based on the chosen location, as well as an editorial photoshoot to capture the garment. Our group’s location was Central Park, and based on the history, culture, commerce, and architecture of the park, we each completed a mood board, a piece of illustration for our bottom piece.
Mood Board:
I focused on the commerce element for the mood board, and finished the top garment myself. I wanted to use the top to be a reminiscence of the 18th-century-women clothing style since Central Park used to be a hotspot for social gatherings for upperclassmen, and I wanted to use the corset-like silhouette to represent the confinement of society, and the grid-like structure of New York City, combined with a sense of fluidity in the fabric of the top to represent modern-day freedom.
For the editorial photoshoot, I was the model and edited the photos myself.
