Place With History

 

This is a lake area in Beijing called Houhai. There are historical buildings around the lake where people used to live. But with the rapid development of urbanization in the inner city, those residential buildings were renovated as  shops and restaurants and slowly became a cultural hotspot for young people to hang out. I used to come here with my friends all the time when I lived in Beijing. I wanted to capture the beautiful landscape and the preservation of architecture in the first painting, and the present state of the building in the second painting.
