Final My Story Project

For my final project I was asked to think back to a personal story that I would like to tell. I had many stories, but this story especially is very close to my heart. My current state of mind was jumbled and messy. I was stressed out and constantly questioning my reason for being in New York, in Parsons. I thought it was perfect to do the one my mom has always told me.

It’s a simple story of how she brought me to the U.S. and practically starting her life all over in a foreign country. The struggles she faced and about how she had to keep her hopes up for my sake. Then, she passed that story down to me whenever I lost hope.

Originally I was planning on my form to be an actual puzzle piece, but Barbara suggested I expand that idea and think of a lateral form. After awhile of playing with the idea I realized since this is a story it would flow better in a sequential form. The puzzle format might’ve been difficult to read.

The puzzles from the left would start out further apart and as you read it the puzzle pieces would start piecing together until it fully connected.

I couldn’t believe it took me so long to figure out how to draw my crying face in my child form.IMG_5586IMG_5588

  2. Awesome work! The story and presentation was really really good and emotionally evoking. Love the illustrations as well, really brings everything together..literally.

  3. I know it’s random but like… I’m really proud of this piece. We were in the preliminary group together just spitballing ideas and so i got to witness your process. I think you always have such great ideas that even you surprise yourself. The end results are always engaging and enjoyable for the viewers and you can tell that makes you happy. I think overall the process and the final response made this even better than you thought it would be 🙂 I love the puzzle pieces its so very unique and the story is clear and has a great flow I’m really happy for you for this piece
