Reading Reflection: The Fetishism of Commodities

 

In the reading “The Fetishism of Commodities and the Secret “ by Karl Marx, he explains the perception of value and the difference between what an individual values and what a society values. For example, if you compare diamonds and strawberries, diamonds will be worth more than strawberries even though diamonds will do nothing for your health or well being. This idea of a materialistic object being worth more depends on how rare it is.
