Juyeon and I chose to combine our negative traits to create a hybrid avatar, Judy. We were inspired by Ajay Kurian’s artwork “Childermass”, which successfully created an atmosphere of anxiety and depression. The background is made of blurry photos of our childhood. We darkened it with acrylic paint to create the intense atmosphere.The avatar is held by a hand, and the handprints below it represent being watched by people. We both hate being watched by the audience while in a dangerous or stressful situation. We are both phone-addicted, thus even under a dangerous situation, the avatar is still holding an iPhone on the hands. On the T-shirt, there are three letters “FRA”. It can be “frank” or “fragile”, depending on the audience’s imagination. We added a pigtail to the avatar because in our culture pig represents laziness.
