Please post on your LP one to two paragraphs of your thoughts, and some images from what you experienced at the UN trip this week. To have experienced this space and engage with these big ideas from these thinkers at such a young age is a privilege. What jumped out at you? What about the relationships between environment and social justice? What bothered you? Did you leave feeling empowered or disengaged? You can be honest and critical.
In the past week, I went to the United Nation building in NYC and listened to a lecture about design and sustainability. I really enjoyed Anne Dorte Riggelsen’s speech about eco-friendly building designs and the concept of Copenhagenization. I found the special designs really fascinating. To incorporate plants into buildings and to fit buildings into the natural scene are easy to say but so hard to accomplish.
The most inspiring part for me is the dance performed by Ajana Vas. Before this, I have never thought that protecting the environment could be a theme for a dance. Her dance was well designed and very enjoyable. Then I started to think that maybe I can also do something with my major, Design and Technology. Maybe I can design a game or a software that can raise people’s attention to the environmental issues. All in all, I really enjoyed the trip to the United Nation.
