1. I think Joseph Cornell is deeply influenced by Juan Gris’s cubism style and to me, it feels like that’s the reason why he is creating depth within a “supposed-to-be” two-dimensional space. My bridge 3 project is inspired by his work, and I can feel this connection to his work.

1. the background is made of an old newspaper; There is a blue bird-like shape in the middle; There are wood sticks popping out from the surface; there is a metal ring at the top right corner; the piece is contained in a box.
2. In other pieces, there is a picture of bird standing in the middle, while in this one the bird is gone. Adding to the blue color, this piece gives me a sad feeling.

I think the blue shape is a shadow left by the bird that’s always standing in the middle of his boxes.

The artist is trying to show what he felt about the dream he had about the blue bird.

The bird to the artist seems like his friend’s companion came alive. It makes me feel like every thing leaves a trace before disappearing.

The blue shape in the middle represents a blue cockatoo Cornell dreamed of.
- Does the work of art evoke any emotions?
This artwork definitely gives me a lonely and sad feeling.
