Adapting to a New Environment

As a foreigner studying in New York, I have met countless cultural differences between the United States of America and China, my home town. Among them, tipping is the most confusing one. I had known about this tradition before arriving in NYC, but a vague idea was all I knew. After moving into the hotel, I googled it, therefore, got to know more about it. I also checked receipts after paying for my meal, which usually contained suggested tip amounts. Suggestions from friends who live in this city helped me the most. Through all these ways I learn about traditions in this new culture, therefore gradually adapt to it.
