The neighborhood I chose to make a metaphorical avatar is the east village. Its unique area distribution with residential buildings surrounding the Tompkins Square Park showing the contrast between the naturalistic park and the modernized buildings. It became my source of inspiration for this project. The park is like a lighthouse that attracts people. I then thought of using shapes and different materials to represent the attraction and repulsion. I decided to use sharp metallic shapes representing things driving people away and curvy wires representing things attracting people.
