My paintings are usually related to my culture or at least illustrates what defines Indonesia in my head. The first painting is of a mountain located in Central Java called Mount Sikunir, the hand on the bottom right portrays an Instagram post implying that Indonesia’s earthly beauties are one click away. The second painting next to it is a durian, known as the stinkiest fruit in the world that is significant to Indonesia. If you look closer inside the fruit, the durians form a shape of a baby hence the title of the painting is called “Tender and Mild” referring to baby Jesus and also just the texture of the fruit itself.
