Grace Paley became the witness of an injustice system back then, but when she migrated and stepped in for a little bus journey she and her mother created a change as they broke the boundary within the racial segregation. Through their simple acts of interacting with people outside of their race during the bus trip, they started a movement that slightly opened a chance for the darker skinned people to feel more connected and less mistreated. Because she was a stranger to that specific surrounding she was able to realize the issue at hand and resist the injustice of segregation. From observing the situation, Paley and her mother strayed away from the ordinary and established a more welcoming community.
