Hand-held Sculpture

The improvisation workshop in our studio class was something that was way out of my comfort zone because I was very awkward and stiff most of the time. It was also very random and very new to me, it opened me to some sort of new dimension. So I took from the feelings that I experienced during the workshop and turned it into the hand-held sculpture. The sculpture is mostly made of wood and is linked by a wire so it is able to fold. I chose to use wood to represent the stiffness that I embodied during the workshop. The backside of the hand is entirely black to symbolize how initially I wasn’t willing to go on with the improvisation workshop however as I opened up to the experienced I became introduced to a weird yet fun sensation, it made me more flexible and open as well.
