Perspective Silhouette

Taking from the famous Marc Riboud photograph of a woman holding a flower right in front of plenty of soldiers to advocate anti-Vietnam war, I created a silhouette of just the female figure and the hand holding a weapon as well as use cutouts of newspapers as the background. I wanted to use the infamous photograph to contextualize the battles and wars that we face in today’s world such as the battle we have with the invisible enemy that is the coronavirus. In the past, wars are often identified as battles between nations. But now wars come in any shape and form, sometimes even we have wars with our own self.
