My first project in Space/Materiality! I’ve never really made anything with my hands before, so this was…interesting. (it was terrible)

okay first steps: So on the first day we crumpled up this piece of paper… and then were told to draw it using dominate and sub dominate lines.

 these are my sketches.

Next step was to make a 3D model of our paper using wire and straws.

I would like to say it was pretty accurate…..but that would be lying.

Okay so next we conceptualized.

These are some early sketches…I knew I wanted some sort of headpiece.

Next it was time to image draw, to really see how this would work as a 3D structure.

and then it was time to make the final piece with gold metal tubes and wire for the hinges.

this was the first model of my headpiece, but it wasn’t angular enough.

So we changed it to this:

 and this became my final product! It isn’t the prettiest to look at but I am very proud of myself, being it was my first time making anything with my hands.
