Placement Manual

Naomi Ebenstein

This free-standing sculpture, in its multiple iterations, is an exploration of male fantasy pushed into the physically absurd.

I wonder what would happen when turning the male fantasy inside out, pushing “their” bigoted perspective to what is physically absurd.

I want to research something playfully perverse about the exaggerated iconography in the surreal conflation between unclean fantasies, and neutralized judgment of body form in art.

I want to try to understand the body on the flaccid boundary of modern aesthetics, between the tempting appeal and defilement of grotesque. How comfortable to our eye is the classicist archetype of the human form and are deformations seen as sexually derogatory?
