Group Collage
In our group visual essay, our mission was to craft a poster that captures the essence of a neighborhood bodega, corner store, or deli – whatever you want to call it! A bodega is a scrambled and eclectic assortment of items, catering to customers seeking quick consumption and everyday convenience. Stepping inside, you’re instantly engulfed by a kaleidoscope of scents, an abundance of snacks, beverages, cleaning supplies, and a plethora of other goods. Amid the chaos, you may me left asking yourself, ‘WHAT THE F IS A BODEGA?’
Individual Collage
My personal interest, sparked by exploring bodega spaces, led me to delve into the world of surveillance in public areas. As we journeyed through various delis, it became impossible to overlook the intimidating quantity of cameras in each store. This observation stood out, given that bodegas are typically viewed as comforting, community-driven spaces, yet they were paradoxically brimming with surveillance. This paradox became a central focus during the final phase of our project, where I aimed to delve even deeper into its nuances.
