I am a Venezuelan-born fashion designer with a specialization in fashion products. My design ethos is as follows; “To design is to use utilitarian and humanitarian ethical principles in order to help people emotionally, mentally, and physically.” The concepts behind my designs are influenced by my culturally-rich Venezuelan background, childhood memories, empowering life-experiences, mental health, latin music and by the issues affecting people in Latin America. The fashion products I create can be categorized as jewelry, handbags, ergonomic pouch bags, travel accessories, and shoes. My design aesthetic ranges from sleek and modern to expressionistic and bold. An aesthetic is designated to my collections depending on the concept, such as assigning a modern aesthetic to a utilitarian and practical product. The silhouettes and shapes I design are usually unconventional, irregular and inspired by architecture, nature or the body due to the fluid nature of these subjects. As a detail-oriented designer, I create bold details and symbols in my pieces which act as signatures for the concept behind it. The materials most present in my work are natural fiber fabrics, recycled polyester fabrics, leather, tech fabrics, plexiglass, and a variety of gunmetal or silver hardware. The color stories that dominate my body of work are bold and bright colors that contrast with darker or dull hues of the same colors, as well as, monochromatic arrangements ranging from the lightest to the darkest hues.
