Curiosity Exercise at Bobst Library

Assignment 1:

I observed that people tend to play with their hair when studying or reading. People bush their hair out of their face, or tie it back in a bun or pony tail. It is more noticeable with people with longer hair, but mostly everyone does it at one point. This act seems to be like a habit. Since the location was a college library and people are studying the habit seems to be anxiety or stressed related. It was interesting watching people seem frustrated and take a deep breath out and push their hair back. Since this action happens so quickly it was hard to get a picture of the people I observed, so I decided to draw sketches instead.

Assignment 2:

I found the book, The Complete Guide to Modern Dance by Don McDonagh. I was attracted to the book initially because I of the dark green hard cover. Army green is one of my favorite colors, so I just so happened to notice it and pick the book up. To my surprise the book is about dance, and I happen to be a dancer. I mainly study contemporary, jazz, and hip hop, but I’ve taken modern dance classes before. Modern dance is a major influence on each style of dance. This book describes the careers of over one hundred important modern choreographers. No matter what style of dance and dancer is interested in every dancer should know the modern choreographers; Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor, and Twyla Tharp.
