Every since I learned how to draw I always had a fascination with drawing skulls. I don’t know why or how, I just really like to draw all the little funky shapes that composed together make on skull. So it only felt right to incorporate a skull in my still life autobiography. I found other object in my room that I want to draw and placed them according. I picked the flowers and candles due to the fact that my mom always has these objects in my house, and she made sure that I have them with me in New York City. I also incorporated my necklaces on the gold stand. I found the necklace stand in the garbage a while ago and painted it gold to match my room. Lastly I have an Andy Warhol poster I got from the MoMa Museum hanging in my room, I like the pop of orange. I was inspired by the Pieter Claesz’s Still Life with a Skull and a Writing Quill. I normally don’t paint this dark. I created my darkest shades out of blues, purples, and greens.

I know my Trompe L’Oeil is very extra, but I wanted to have fun with the items and colors. I spilled out my cheetah purse and laid it out on a pink bench. I was inspired by Sofia Coppola’s film The Bling Ring (the opening sequence). Above is not the final painting, but she’s close to being finished.
