Octahedron: a three-dimensional shape having eight plane faces, especially a regular solid figure with eight equal triangular faces.

While folding the Octahedron, I found a peculiar beauty in how the paper melded into each other and seamlessly created a three dimensional figure Although I struggled with creating the Octahedron it was a great learning experience to understand how two dimensional structures cold become 3D. Through the many iterations of Octahedrons I have made, I still do not think I have mastered the skill of easily making an Octahedron, but that is a motivating reminder to practice and perfect the structure. I was very inspired by the unique shape the Octahedron formed, and decided that I would incorporate a varied version of it in my accessory design. Through these origami practices, I found myself fully understanding the process of using origami as a borrowed system to create an accessory. I learnt the types of folds such as inverted folds, as well as the sequence and order of folding and lastly observing the patterns that are created after the folding process on the origami paper.

Attached below is my initial paper prototype with a rectangular base shape. I found that this model was not collapsable as well as not very reminiscent of origami. I went on to use the Octahedron diamond-like shape to create the base shape.
